Diclowin injection

2025-05-07 06:03:24
I suffered a road accident on April 25 and was given Diclowin injection in left buttock on that day, now after 11-12 days I have noticed a lump away from the sight of injection and is painful, my mother looked and said there is no redness but I can still feel warmth over there. What is this? A lump after 12 days? Since I suffered abrasions from the injury I have been on antibiotics since then.

A lump on the site away from the site the Diclovin injection is completely unrelated to the injection itself. A lump can be anything - from a mosquito bite/abrasion due to road traffic accident/ lipoma/ local infection : folliculitis or any other inadvertent injury.
Next Steps
Don’t think there is anything to worry about this unless there is a lot of pus or redness or indurated areas that develops with pain.
Health Tips
If pus develops in the area then seek a surgical advice for drainage and take antibiotics course

Sorry to hear about your accident hope you’re recovering well. A painful lump 11–12 days after an injection could be due to: • A deep tissue reaction or injection site fibrosis (sometimes happens with intramuscular Diclofenac). • A localized abscess or delayed inflammatory reaction, especially if warmth is felt (even without redness). • Or possibly a muscle hematoma (collection of blood), though that usually appears sooner. Since you’re already on antibiotics, a severe infection is less likely but it’s still best to get it examined.
Next Steps
A clinical checkup and possibly an ultrasound can help rule out abscess or hematoma.
Health Tips
Avoid pressing or massaging it. Apply warm compresses if advised by your doctor.

If it's painful then it's better to get a local ultrasound to rule out abscess.

The lump is probably due to the application of the Intramuscular injection. Just take a piece of cloth put some ice cubes and do cold fomentation at the site of the lump.
