Dermoid cyst. Should I get it removed?

2024-05-08 14:02:34
I'm a 30 yo woman, planning for pregnancy. A dermoid cyst measuring 2.7x2.4x2.9cms(Vol: 9.7cc) was detected on my right ovary. I've met 3 gynaecologists so far and I've had conflicting opinions. Two of the doctors advised removal of the cyst before getting pregnant and one doctor advised against removal. What should I do? Will removing the cyst improve my chances of getting pregnant or will it impact my ovarian health? Will keeping the cyst cause complications during pregnancy / miscarriage? Please advice. I'm otherwise healthy with good AMH level.

Cyst is not that big but if it’s dermoid then it is less probable to regress spontaneously . You can conceive and the risk of dermoid in pregnancy is not per se pregnancy but the risk of torsion . So the management options has been discussed and now decision is with you

Actually the size is very small. It does not need immediate surgery. But yes if the size increase and undergo torsion then u can have pain abdomen in pregnancy. But this size won't affect. You can opt for pregnancy normally and get a cystectomy done during the c section.

Size is small, you can conceive naturally. But sometimes cyst causes torsion i.e twist on itself when the size increases. Keep monitoring this cyst and feel free to connect online for further discussion
