Precautions for a 1-Month-Old Baby Against Dengue
1. Use Physical Barriers
✅ Mosquito Nets: Always use mosquito nets over cribs, strollers, and sleeping areas.
✅ Dress Baby Properly: Long sleeves and pants made of breathable cotton fabrics.
✅ Cover Windows and Doors: Use mesh screens to keep mosquitoes out.
✅ Mosquito Coils or Vaporizers: Use them outside the baby’s room to reduce mosquito populations but avoid direct exposure to fumes.
2. Keep the Surroundings Clean
✅ Eliminate Breeding Grounds: Regularly empty and clean containers with standing water (flowerpots, buckets, etc.).
✅ Use Larvicidal Treatments: For water storage containers (ensure they are covered).
3. Avoid Chemical Repellents on Baby’s Skin
For a 1-month-old, DO NOT use any mosquito repellent sprays, creams, or essential oils directly on skin or clothing.
No patches or roll-ons should be used for babies this young.
4. Indoor Control
✅ Fans: Use fans to keep air moving, as mosquitoes are weak fliers.
✅ Air-Conditioned Rooms: If possible, use AC to deter mosquitoes.
Recognizing Dengue Early
If your baby develops:
High fever
Irritability, poor feeding, lethargy
Rash or bleeding (gums, nose, bruises)
