For a deep cut on your finger that still feels fresh, you should first clean it thoroughly with running water and keep it covered with a clean bandage; applying an antibiotic like T-Bact Ointment can help prevent infection, but if the wound is deep, open, or the edges are apart, you should see a doctor as it may need stitches; getting a tetanus (TT) vaccine is recommended if you haven’t had one in the last 1 year or are unsure of your vaccination status, and you should seek medical care promptly if you notice increasing pain, redness, swelling, pus, fever, or difficulty moving the finger.

Clean it well with soap and water, apply antiseptic, and keep it covered 👍 Get a  TT injection if not taken in the last 5 years. If the cut is deep, gaping, or not closing, it may need stitches don’t delay. I can guide you book a quick consult 👍

Deep cut → needs proper care. Clean with soap + water, apply antiseptic, keep covered. If cut is deep/gaping or not closing → may need stitches. TT injection needed if not taken in last 5 years. Watch for redness, swelling, pus. Better get it checked once. You can consult me, I’ll guide treatment.

Inj TT is definitely the first and a must protection to take within 24 hours of injury. Best would be to assess if the cut needs any stitches. If not then applying a local antibiotic will help healing as well avoiding infection.

A deep cut that still feels 'fresh' 12–15 hours after the injury carries a high risk of both bacterial infection and tetanus. For an index finger laceration, we must assess not only the skin closure but also the underlying tendon function and digital nerve integrity. Immediate clinical wound management, including a Tetanus Toxoid (TT) booster and potentially primary closure (stitches), is the standard of care for a wound of this depth
Next Steps
Active Cleaning:  clean the wound thoroughly with an antiseptic like Povidone-iodine or Dettol. However, avoid putting harsh chemicals inside a deep cut; sterile saline or clean running water is best for internal irrigation. TT Booster: Obtain a Tetanus Toxoid (TT) injection immediately. This is a non-negotiable safety step for deep lacerations. Surgical Review: , you should see a General Surgeon. They need to check if you can fully bend and straighten your finger; if you cannot, a tendon may be injured. Antibiotic Cover: Given the depth and time elapsed, a short course of oral antibiotics and a topical antibiotic ointment are likely necessary.
Health Tips
A formal clinical consultation is mandatory to check for nerve/tendon damage and to decide if stitches are needed to prevent a permanent scar or functional loss."

Yes better to take tetanus injection. If cut is very deep, it would need stitches as well. Clean it with savlon solution then apply povidone ointment over it 2 to 3 times daily.
