It depends on the extent of the damage and a dentist will be the best judge to make a call on that aspect . If the damaged teeth can be bought back to function and symptom free then the dentist will take it up for root canal treatment or else removal will he suggested . Root canal treatment can definitely alleviate you from pain if the damage is not extensive .

Root canal is the  better  option. If  the tooth can be saved, better  to save it by doing  Rct.
