Curd during hyperacidity

2025-03-27 19:00:23

Yeah , it’s true because curd is fermented and contains lactic acid, which can further increase stomach acidity, especially if consumed at night.

Their are so many influencers floating around social media giving various tips for wellbeing but one should also understand that ayurveda is an ancient science and it has certain limitations with respect to modern research advancements , yes of course ayurveda says curd is abhishyandi and should be avoided and also they wrote to consume curd in winter but ayurveda didn’t mention about the micro organism curd have which is Lactobacillus and Lactococcus , these bacteria converts lactose into lactic acid , so in stomach which is previously acidic in nature will increase its acidity after taking curd or yogurt so it can increase your acid reflux , secondly these bacteria are probiotic in nature hence they improve your gut flora and lastly if you have allergies with lactose or may have lactose intolerance then also it may discomfort you

Hello Yes that’s true. Your concern is correct but as curd is fermented it is abhishyandi in nature , very heavy to digest it will increase dushit pitta But if you take kokum sharbat your Agni and vayu mahabhut will be balanced and it will help relieve your hyperacidity.
Next Steps
Always good to consult an ayurvedic doctor for hyperacidity It’s called hyper because it cannot be controlled with household methods and it needs treatment to be controlled.
Health Tips
Drink kokum sharbat or buttermilk with sugar

Yes, Ayurveda advises avoiding curd in acid reflux and hyperacidity as it increases Pitta and Kapha, which can worsen symptoms like burning sensation and indigestion. Instead, opt for buttermilk (Takra) with a pinch of roasted cumin and rock salt, which is lighter and helps digestion. For a precise dietary and treatment plan, consult me.

Yes it is correct. It is heavy for digestion as it contains fat . Gastric emptying period will be prolonged hence it results in hyper acidity.

Hello, Yes curd is abhishyanda and ushna ( channel blocking and hot) . In acidity and GERD conditions it'll increase heat in your body.
