Dear patient, It is not always necessary to put a crown after RCT. But in many cases, a lot of tooth structure is lost due to decay and the RC procedure. So, to strengthen the tooth so that it can withstand all sorts of chewing forces, a crown is suggested. This is for the long term health of the tooth that we have saved by doing RCT. You may start the crown procedure immediately, if your dentist has advised it.

Crown after RCT is necessary.Go for Crown immediately after RCT as tooth becomes brittle as it might get fracture.and It depends on location of tooth in oral cavity.like is it anterior or posterior tooth.

Hi , Whether ur tooth is having or not having any kind of pain, it is better to wait for few days (say about 1 week) before going for a crown. Sometimes even after a good RCT, tooth remains or becomes painful sometime. So its better to wait if u r not in a hurry. Necessity of giving a crown after RCT depends upon the damage of the tooth structure and also upon the functionality of the tooth. If its a posterior (back) tooth then crown must be given to strngthen the tooth structure so that it can bear stresses during chewing food for a longer period of time. But in case of anterior (front) tooth its not the same as front teeth bear much less stress than poeterior ones. Hope this will help u.

Post r..c.t the crowning must be done immediately. Otherwise crown may get fractured easily b'coz the treated tooth  becomes brittle and  there is also scope for dislodgment of restoration (filling) followed by reinfection.
