I want you to write down points which are positive and points in which you feel insecure, regarding him and his family. Try relaxing yourself using breathing techniques for anxiety and focus on what your mind is feeling negative about, either you'll have a positive outcome or a negative one, decide on what is the right thing to do after that and convince your family with the reasoning to the same.
