Hi, The diet and exercise both helps in maintaining cholesterol level, but if already any one have suffered from abnormal cholesterol level or hypercholesterolemia then with that medication is also important. You can follow fibre rich diet which contains, fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and other vegetables. If possible try to do weight bearing exercise like brisk walking helps in maintain HDL cholesterol or good cholesterol level. Overall lifestyle modification surely help .

U go for natural diet plan to control ur cholesterol levels. Eat plenty of vegetables,fruits,and raw greengram sprouts everyday. Avoid bakeryfoods,fastfoods,preserved food,spicy oily foods. Walk exercise,yoga for an hour everyday. Drink enough water buttermilk everyday. Sleep leisurely at night for 6 hrs min. Use restricted amount of oil in foods. U can use alternately.sunflower,ricebran,groundnut, gingely  refined oils,. for food. Use gingely fried seeds in ur curries.,or eat with jaggery everyday about 20-25 gm.
