Cervical cerclage can cause infection, more so in those patients who have emergency cerclage. It can also occur due to sexual intercourse. Pre-existing vaginal infection may spread to the uterus. As a matter of routine precautions should be taken to clean the vagina with Betadine 5% lotion for two days , appled twice daily. After cerclage patient should avoid intercourse for a week. Local application of Clinigen ointment or tablets.  Don't use tampons. Tab Metrogyl 500 mg twice daily for 7 days.
