Borderline high Cholesterol levels

My husband cholesterol levels are on border line high as can be seen from the reports attached..doc prescribed Atorec F ( atorvastatin) 1 daily for 30 days n after that repeat lipid profile test. My husband making some dietary n lifestyle changes from past 10 days n reduced 1/2 kg n not started taking medicine...please suggest whether he should start with medicine or not... We are scared if medicine is started then it cannot be stopped n have to be continued for lifetime...I heard that these medicines effect liver in the short run..please advice

Hi, first of all don't panic Your husband's cholesterol values as given in the reports, shows borderline high, and as he has already started on lifestyle changes and is not keen on starting medication, you can take the test again, get it evaluated and then start medication if at all required. How much is the dosage of the drug?? U can take the prescribed medicine for a month to control the cholesterol levels and then you can stop!
