Bone cancer (osteosarcoma)

My cousin who is 16 year old boy have "bone cancer (Osteosarcoma) and sumaiya hospital doctors suggested to cut his leg (amputation). would be great if u could suggest something to save his leg.

It depends upon the exact stage and spread of disease... Osteosarcoma requires chemotherapy to shrink the disease followed by surgery and more chemo... Can save limb if  response is good..

It's treated with chemotherapy 2-3 cycles first, followed by repeat scan and assessment if leg can be saved. Please consult specific orthopedic oncosurgeon for osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma needs combined modality treatment...limb sparing can be attempted by giving upfront chemotherapy and assessing response. Please see an oncologist who practises joint clinics as it needs multidisciplinary management.

Please see a specialised orthopaedic oncologist or a surgical oncologist. There are options to save the leg. But your treating doctor has to be trained in limb salvage surgery
