Hello. Bleeding gums occur due to conditions like gingivitis and periodontitis. This happens when there is calculus (plaque and tartar) deposition on the tooth. Calculus or tartar is a form of hardened dental plaque. It is caused by precipitation of minerals from saliva and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) in plaque on the teeth. Calculus contains numerous bacteria that are harmful for the gums and oral cavity. They are also responsible for Halitosis ( bad breath). Kindly undergo Scaling and polishing treatment. Scaling and polishing is a professional teeth cleaning treatment, where in the calculus and stains are removed. Scaling not only cleans the teeth but also makes the gums healthier and firm. The overall health of the oral cavity and gingiva is improved, hence also cures bad breath problems. Kindly visit a periodontist for Scaling and Polishing Maintain proper oral hygiene. Brush twice daily using the correct brushing technique. Use a floss. Rinse your mouth after every meal. Maintain proper tongue hygiene. Drink adequate amount of water throughout the day.

Since your gums are bleeding even by brushing with you fingers your first priority is to get your gums and teeth cleaned by a dentist as early as possible to prevent further damage to your gums and teeth. After cleaning the dentist would prescribe you a gum astringent (antiseptic that prevents bacteria from growing in the mouth) and a mouthwash which will help you improve your breath.
