Good morning.
Usually a dog that is rabid dies within a week of infection.Therefore if the dog that bit you is still alive,then most probably he is is not infected with rabies.
Since the treatment for rabies is easily available in India,it is advised to take the post exposure prophylaxis treatment against rabies.

Always wash any animal bite wound under running water with an antiseptic soap for 15 minutes.This easy method will wash away most of the germs from the wound.Then consult an emergency physician for further management as early as possible.
