5th metatarsal fracture .today is my 21st day I remove my cast on 19th day and now I am using low length walking boot.i am confuse wether I have avulsion or Jones fracture my doctor don't know either can anyone suggest me how to check it And can I put weight on my foot ie can I walk with walking boot(ossur rebound air walking boot)

Depends on the location on x-rays. Share xrays. Cast for 19-20 days is of no use...minimum time to cast is 6 weeks in 5th metatarsal fracture.

Yes you can walk with walking boot..there is not much of a difference in the line of treatment for both unless the bones are widely open.. Bones take 6 weeks to heal completely and for the swelling to completely reduce another 6 to 8 weeks.. At 3rd week the bone would have become sticky and so that's why your doctor has put you on the boot..you are on the right track. Only once the pain subsides completely can you start moving your foot and walking without any boot..
