Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
Your case has been allotted to me.
I understand your concern. Hearing voices or feeling as if someone is talking to you, especially at night or during sleep time, can be quite distressing. Sometimes such experiences occur due to excessive stress, anxiety, disturbed sleep pattern, or overexposure to emotionally triggering content online. It does not necessarily mean there is a serious nerve or brain disorder.
1. Advices
Avoid watching or reading health-related or stressful content before bedtime.
Maintain a fixed sleep schedule and practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation for 10 minutes before sleeping.
Reduce caffeine and screen use 1â2 hours before bed.
2. What to Monitor
Frequency and timing of such experiencesâwhether only during sleep time or also during the day.
Any changes in mood, sleep, or energy levels.
3. Management
You may try a natural sleep aid like melatonin (3 mg) at night for a few days to help restore the sleep cycle. Avoid overthinking or worrying about nerve problems, as your symptoms seem more stress or anxiety-related. If the voices persist or start occurring during the daytime, a short consultation with a psychiatrist or psychologist is advisableâthey can assess for transient anxiety or sleep-related hallucination and manage it effectively with counselling or mild medication if needed.
4. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
If voices become continuous or command you to act.
If you develop sleeplessness or severe anxiety for several days.
If you feel unusually fearful or withdrawn.
Every patientâs situation is unique. These symptoms are often fully treatable once we identify the cause and calm the mind.
ð You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation.
