Hello Doctors,
Everyday I wake up with ankle pain. Its been more than 6 years that every morning when I wake up an walk my ankles hurt so much. It started happening now when I get up and walk after sitting for a long time. My BMI is overweight.
I'm trying to loose weight. But please let me now that other than overweight can there be any underlying medical condition for this pain or its just due to my weight.
Weight may be a contributing factor but the underlying pathology could be different. Usually early morning stiffness or pain is associated with Rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune disorder. There are several other conditions which may require a thorough examination and also investigations
Next Steps
Physical consultation along with a few investigations
Nothing replaces a thorough clinical examination. Blood investigations may be done to rule out conditions other than obesity which can cause ankle pain.
Next Steps
Visit your orthopedic surgeon for a clinical evaluation.
