Hi, this is Dr Hitin Mathur, orthopaedic surgeon from Fortis C Doc Hospital, new Delhi. Welcome to Practo. As far as your ligament stain is concerned, immobilisation of the ankle with a plaster at the time of injury helps in healing the Ligaments in correct position in about 3 weeks. It may take a bit longer without immobilisation, maybe upto 6 weeks. You could put a crepe bandage on and don't walk on uneven surfaces for another 3 weeks. Keep the leg elevated since swelling may take longer to go. If symptoms still persists, you should see an orthopaedic surgeon to get your ankle examined for instability and pain.
