Spinal anaesthetic is better

Hi. ACL reconstruction s a long duration surgery and it requires regional anaesthesia ( spinal or and epidural). U cn opt for general anaesthesia if u r sensitive for local injections. Best wishes

There is no need to panic. The surgery is done under spinal anesthesia where your legs alone will be anesthetized. You will be awake. If given by an experienced anesthetist it is a 30 second job and matter of single injection. The most important thing is that you should trust your doctor don't panic and don't move when he / she is giving injection in your back. As soon as injection is given your legs will be numb and you will not be able to move your legs. The surgeon will perform the acl surgery and then you will be shifted to room. After 6 -8 hours u may start feeling your leg again. Pain will be a bit there but will be managed by pain killers. Next day your exercises and walking with Walker will start. Happy healing. It's not in local anesthesia, it's regional,ur both lega will be numb , u can ask for sleeping medication The anesthesiologist can make u sleep

They will give spinal anaesthesia

It's better and safe to operate under spinal anaesthesia. But still if you are worried , you can consult your anaesthesia and tell your preference.

It's done in regional or spinal anaesthesia , sometime under general anaesthesia if required. Don't worry you should be fine .
