Patrial tear may heal up, but remember this is a artificial graft(tendon) so chances of its vascularity are doubtful. Take rest for 3-4 weeks. Continue static quadriceps exercises. Walk after 3-4 weeks and the feel for any issue. If you still encounter pain, instability etc. Yes you should get it removed and reoperated.
