5th metatarsal bone fracture

I got fractured at 5th metatarsal bone on 10th June . I am on full cast from 11th June itself. The doctor has asked me to wait till 6 weeks before we do the next xray here is my question can I do the xray before that like around 5th week ending or 33 days. As I have a small baby at home it is becoming very difficult to handle the kid with one leg moved and the other on rest

this kind of fracture takes 4-6 weeks to heal. you can ask for a fibreglass cast to be applied whereon you can put weight and even walk without the risk of plaster getting broken up. fibreglass cast is lightweight and you can carry your household work with it.
Next Steps
you can do a xray at end of 4 weeks and decide about fiberglass cast.

Get an xray done. Depending on the callus formation cast can be removed and advised to bear weight. If slight pain persists u can apply crepe bandgae

It is usually suggested to get an X-ray on the 6th week to check callus formation which is visualised on X-ray by 6th week. As the base of 5th metatarsal bone has watershade zone (relatively low blood supply) it is advisable to continue cast for atleast 6weeks.
Next Steps
X-ray on 6th week and assessment by Orthopaedic
Health Tips
continue physio: Toe movement and knee ROM movement. Cast care

Fracture base of fifth metatarsal bone is calle one's fracture. If proper immobilisation with synthetic articast is done she can walk from day 1 itself. It has to be immobilsed for 8 or at least 6weeks before taking second check ray.

Absolutely, it's preferred if you do it beyond 30 days instead of before, so for until one week or so it may be deferred. You can get the X-ray done with the cast in place. No hurry.
Next Steps
Usually a little bit of toe touch is not considered harmful, but do as per your doctor says, and they can safely visit between the sixth and seventh week.
