Runny nose is a viral infection. Althrocin is an antibiotic. Antibiotics don't work against viral infections. Viral infections get better on their own in 7-10 days in infants. Only supportive care is needed. Kindly use antibiotics only with the prescription of a doctor.
If child has cold, you may
- Use Nasoclear nasal drops, 3-4 hourly for blocked nose
- Get a nasal mucus aspirator if thick mucus like secretions and learn the technique to aspirate from a healthcare personnel
- Elevate the child's head while sleeping
- Give sufficient fluids - breastmilk, formula milk, clear vegetable soups
- Warm clothing
