Allergy- Steroid Nasal spray- Heart rate
My doc had suggested metatop nasal spray (1 puff in each nostril) for allergic reaction when I face cold weather etc., 1) Is it safe to use Metatop nasal spray for long duration? for months or years? I get normal if I use the spray for a week or two and I generally resume after 2 weeks or so when I get those symptoms again. 2) Side effects on long duration pls? 3) Also, i have higher heart beat rate around resting BPM of 85. Please also advise if continued usage of metatop results in higher heart rate? thanks a lot!

Intranasal corticosteroid sprays when used as prescribed by an ENT Specialist are safe for long term use. A Swedish studied it's effects on pregnant women and later on their children for 40 years and deemed it perfectly safe in the prescribed dosage.
