Hello there.
I can understand your concern.
It might be nore than just a allergic cough.
Better to get it checked out by a pediatrician.
He might be having a respiratory tract infection for which antibiotics may be required.
If he has sputum or not is also to be taken i consideration.
Upon examining we will get to know if his chest is congested or not.
Depending on that he might require anti-tussives or expectorants.
Kindly take him to a pediatrician as soon as possible.
Best regards.

Hi there...I can understand your concern. If he is having such severe cough, then he might be suffering from some upper respiratory tract infection. He will need to examined clinically. His breath sounds should be taken into consideration. Also other symptoms link expectoration, fever, malaise should be looked into. At home you can just give salt water gargles, steam inhalation. It will give only temporary relief. He might need systemic antibiotics. So Kindly consult a nearby pediatrician for further evaluation.
