Your Hba1c ,fasting and pp sugars is suggestive of diabetes. Steroids can worse pre- existing insulin resistance and precipitate diabetes. We have to give some time , at least a year before determining whether your diabetes is chronic or not, since your levels have improved significantly in 2 months with medication and steroids and stress from COVID may have contributed to diabetes. Based on your age, your a1c goal is 6.5 is prevent complications of diabetes. Therefore you will require additional medications, improving diet and exercise for better sugar control. Once a1c reaches goal, it is recommend that we check for certain hormones produced by pancreas to assess for chronicity of diabetes.
