Acute kidney injury due to diarrhoea
My father encountered AKI 3 months ago,he is improving but his creatinine is stuck at 3.2 from the past 1 month. In his current report his phosphorus is 5.3,is it dangerous?require immediate action? Is there any possibility his creatinine goes back to normal as his creatinine was 1.3,4 months before this aki episode due to diarrhoea

Hi There might be a background chronic kidney disease before AKI hence creatinine not getting back to normal. Need further details regarding his comorbid conditions like diabetes, hypertension. Need to decide whether elevated creatinine needs further testing. And phosphorus is borderline high, doesn’t need treatment at the moment.

Is ur father diabetic? How high did the creatinine go during the AKI? As it's been 3 months, it is unlikely that the creatinine wil go back to 1.3. But it may slowly decrease over the next few months. Meanwhile it is very important to avoid other injuries to kidney, in the form of painkillers and further infections. Phosphorous of 5.3 is expected for this level of creatinine. But he will need medications if it's persistently high
