Reflux disease is commonly a lifestyle disorder.  For any medication to be effective and for u to be able to come off medication lifestyle changes and adherence to those is essential First and foremost is regular meals . Take small frequent meals every 3 to 4 hrs . Eat a little less than your stomach capacity.  If u eat say 3 chappatis or 1 bowl rice reduce it to 3/4 th, / 2 chappatis . Dont stay empty stomach for long periods of time Dont eat in a hurry Nd drink water in excess with meals . Have more water  in between meals than during  meals . Regular exercise and brisk walk for 20 mins minimum and weight reduction (if overweight) Donot lie down for atleast 2  hrs post meals . Sit upright or walk around during this period Avoid painkillers ,excess tea ,coffee  , aerated drinks , excess chilli/spices /fried food items If symptoms persist a endoscopy may be warranted esp if age is more than 50 , unintentional weight loss, any blood in stools or black colored stools ,persistent symptoms
