Only endoscopy can rule out or confirm ulcer. So if u have ulcer proven by endoscopy then u need to be on Sompraz 40 mgs 2 times a day for 6 weeks. And if even after this treatment u have the symptoms like pain then u will need repeat endoscopy. But if u never had endoscopy then u may not have ulcer and this is only indigestion as symptoms are same for both.
Next Steps
avoid smoking, spicy fried food and chocolate or coffee. Take sompraz 40 mgs for 15 days then decrease to 20 mgs for another 15 days. if u have trouble decreasing dose then use gelusil 2 tsf as and when required
Health Tips
avoid late dinner and lunch

Firstly, if you have lo g standing or recurrent symptoms requiring you to take Tab. Sompraz more than 3 times a week, then you should consult your Gastroenterologist and get an upper GI endoscopy evaluation done with Rapid urease test (RUT) for H pylori infection.  Also doctor will decide for biopsy if ulcer detected on endoscopy. Avoid spicy, oily and masala food. No cillies or pickles. Take small frequent meals. No smoking, tobacco, alcohol or caffeinated drinks. No painkillers to be taken.

Yes there is a definitive treatment for Gastric ulcer, proper diagnosis and cause should be established.Commonest cause is related to H pylori infection with NSAIDs intake. Both issues can be addressed.Besides rare causes can be treated on the basis of underlying etiology. You should undergo Upper GI endoscopy if gastric ulcer found get it biopsy done .proper treatment by eradication of hpylori infection and stoping intake of NSAIDs  ulcer get healed with 6 weeks,if ulcer persist beyond 12 weeks it is called refractory gastric ulcer, that needs further biopsy and other form of medications.Avoid spicy and greasy food.If you don't have ulcer on Endoscopy, then you needs different line of management for your functional gastric disorder.Hope I Anwer your query
