U can start after 6 months of age..start apple & banana as puree form.. gradually u improve consistency to semi solid and then solid upto 1 year generally around 1 year of age, he will able to eat solid form like we adults eat.

yes you can go ahead, start with some juices or semi solid foods as 6 months child cant have teeth and slowly and gradually increase the consistency of food till 1 yr of age after that he or she should be able to eat like us
