Can Rabies be transmitted through mucus membrane if someone have no cut under their mouth gums or lips and what is the incubation period if mucus membrane is breached is the incubation period shorter

How do you plan to take the Rabies virus to the mucous membrane of the mouth ?  I can't visualise any other part of the body where mucus membrane can come in direct contact with Rabies virus.
