About Philadelphia
Patient diagnosed with leukemia and doctor suggested for few more tests like Philadelphia chromosome and flow cytometry. As this test are pretty expensive we want to know is this tests are mandatory. and what is the use of these tests. and what are the survival chances ??

Well...leukemia depending upon the type and number of good and bad prognostic factors we can predict the survival rates..Philadelphia chromosome is a common mutation which leads to leukaemia..and flow cytometry is a test which will detect any chromosomal abnormalities present.. All these will help in analysis of the prognosis of the disease as in how well the patient has a chance of surving it or how bad the situation it...its upto you to decide.. As based on these tests the haemotologist will take a call on what treatment is the best in view of patient, how aggressively should we treat and how much is it beneficial for him..
