There is rumours that Once anybody consult psychiatrist they will make them addictive to drugs and suggest to take drugs lifetime. Actually I am in need to consult but this made me afraid to meet. Kindly guide me for proper decision.

Your fear is unfounded. Firstly, there are certain problems which are comparable to diabetes.in diabetes, adequate amount of insulin is not produced. So the person require medicine to control the sugar. Same happens in some mental problems also. Some problems are like life style and inappropriate emotional or behaviour. Which can be corrected with the help. So do not hesitate to consult.

Psychiatrist is a professional who will help you with those medications which would be helpful for you,there is nothing like that you have to take medicines for lifetime or you will become dependent on the medicines.Depending upon the intensity and the type of problem a course is set to which you have to comply,decrease in dosage or course of medicine will depend on how you improve
