Abdominal wall lipoma
I have point tenderness at two palpable subcutaneous lipoma/granuloma of 0.5 cms maximum size. I was also diagnosed with kidney stone followed by hydronephrosis on one kidney recently. After repeated ultrasound scans and one CT, visits to the urologist and a general surgeon, I was told that the lipoma/granuloma seems normal but they could be certain only if it was removed. They also said it could recur even after surgery. I am an overweight male, smoker and occasional drinker. My mother has been battling IIIC stage ovarian cancer for the last three years and I would like to make sure I am having no malignancy associated with these lipoma/granuloma.

subcutaneous lipomas are generally harmless. They need removal only if symptomatic or large. And removal of one lipoma doesn’t guarantee that another lipoma might not occur. It is not related to hydronephrosis. Although rare, subcutaneous malignant nodules from unknown primary malignancy can occur. it can be confirmed only by biopsy of the nodule. and excision of a subcutaneous nodule is a minor procedure which can be done on a daycare basis and with minimum complication risks.
