9 months baby stopped sitting suddenly

My friends daughter is 9 months old. She was sitting without assistance. But from last 4 days she has stopped sitting on her own without and when we make her sit she will just go backwards and lie down. She also cries a bit when we make her sit. She is chubby baby. Not lean . What can be the reason
