Dr. Anya Kumar says "About Anya KumarI am a Psychotherapist and Gerontologist currently based in Chennai. I have a keen interest in psychological trauma (PTSD, c-PTSD, ASD), resilience, and affective and personality disorders (specifically Borderline Personality Disorder). I’ve received advanced training in handling these in India and the USA. After working with established health care organisations in India and the USA, I started a private practice in 2016.My practice is client-centred and grounded in the Existential-Humanistic (EH) model of therapy. The HE approach emphasises the need for self-awareness in therapy. I work with my clients to identify immediate and long-term obstacles and help address them. My practice also draws particularly from Gestalt Therapy and Logotherapy. Gestalt Therapy recognises that each individual is shaped by the social, cultural and environmental context. The goal of Logotherapy is to empower clients to define what is meaningful and valuable to them. My approach to treatment is eclectic and fine-tuned according to my client’s needs. My services are offered to individuals, couples and families. I also specialise in working with older adults. I welcome working with individuals who may have identity and adjustment-based struggles within the LGBTQIA + populations and marginalised identities.Please note that I DO NOT take in walk-ins or issue same-day appointments.
