Dr. V. Seshiah

Professor Dr V Seshiah was the head of the Department of Diabetology, Madras Medical College and Government General Hospital. Subsequently he was appointed as Emeritus Professor of Diabetology for five years. For decades, he has been involved in the teaching and clinical practice of diabetes. He started the post graduate Diploma course in Diabetology. He has published many original papers in reputed National and International Journals. He is also associated with a number of medical journals in different capacities. He has authored "A Handbook on Diabetes Mellitus”, which has been well received by the medical community. He developed the speciality of Diabetology in the best form in the Government sector and in private sectors. He has been awarded the prestigious Dr B C Roy National Award for the development of speciality in the country. The Association of Physicians of India honoured him with the ‘Distinguished Member’ award for his excellent and continued service to the Association. He has been conferred the “Best Teachers Award” by the Indian College of Physicians.
