Dr. Nandkumar Sundaram, the renowned orthopedic surgeon, has been successfully performing joint replacement surgeries in the country for the past three decades. He has successfully performed more than 5000 knee and hip replacement surgeries till date. He pioneered the art of total shoulder replacement surgery first in the countryDr. Nandkumar Sundram returned from UK to pursue his practice to help the needy in this country. He with like-minded people started Tamilnad Hospital in 1992 where he was the head of the departmaent and Senior Consultant in Trauma. Performed all orthopaedic trauma surgeries, total hip arthroplasties, total knee arthroplasties, total shoulder arthroplasties, arthroscopy of knee and ACL reconstruction. Did extensive work in the field of hand surgery, especially in rehabilitation of the hand in industrial accidents. He had extensive experience in Paediatric orthopaedics especially post-polio limb deformity correction, Club foot, Congenital dislocation of the hip and Perthe's disease. Did extensive work in the field of Orthopaedic Oncology and was instrumental in setting up a Bone bank, the first of its kind in India in 1994.He was recognised as an instructor and guide by the National Board of Examinations, MCI and was involved in training two students every year for the award of the degree of Dip. National Board Exams. He later moved on to Malar Hospitals, Adyar in 1998 and did some exemplary Ortho cases. He was awarded the "Best Doctor Award" of the Govt. of Tamilnadu by the Governor of TN in 2011. I had twisted my ankle and was in severe pain. I had fixed an appointment with Dr. Nandkumar at Helios Hospitals. The staff were very friendly and were prompt in putting me to the doctor. I was requested to take an X-Ray and it was confirmed as a fracture. Dr. Nandkumar explained the recovery period and was very informative and friendly. My follow-up was always on schedule and my recovery was quick. I would highly recommend Dr. Nandkumar for anyone.
Doctor treated me very well. But the receptionist at helios hospital velacherry is very unprofessional and rude to all patients. She asks the patients about the entire medical history and the purpose of visit. I think its a patient's right to discuss his/her ailments only with the corresponding doctor and not to a receptionist. She also has no rights viewing the patient's scan reports/xray/any medical reports infact.

I took my 78-yo mother to Dr.Nandkumar Sundaram when he was consulting in Fortis Malar in Chennai. She had some joint pain. Dr.Nandkumar asked us to do some tests and Xrays and told us that the ball-socket replacement she had 1 year before has malfunctioned and if she does not have another surgery immediately she will be bedridden. We had doubts and went to another doctor for second opinion by taking tests again since Dr.Nandkumar would not give us the xrays and other test result. The new doctor said she had arthritis and her ball and socket was perfectly fine. I would never recommend this doctor to my enemy.

Very poor response from receptionist to Chief doctors those who are working in helios hospital.
Did xray. Gave injection, blood test, medication, physiotheraphy without making me wait too long. Staff was professional and courteous. ****** *** ************* *** ***** Would definitely recommend.

Very professional treatment. took care very well. initially, we have a lot of hesitations about some negative reviews regarding this hospital, doctors, and staffs. But, I have surprised when I went there. because from the receptionist to chief doctor treated us very kindly and without any partiality. Doctors explained very clearly about their treatment. It gives very good confidence to patients. We got 100% full satisfied treatment from there.
