An increase in serum bile acids concentration in the fasting state or postprandial is considered to be a specific indicator of liver disease. A decreased level indicates bile acid malabsorption, possibly due to ileal dysfunction. Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy requires rapid TAT of results.
No special preparation is needed for Bile Salts. Inform your doctor if you are on any medications or have any underlying medical conditions or allergies before undergoing Bile Salts. Your doctor depending on your condition will give specific instructions.
