What is this test?
This test helps to find whether an individual is allergic to red kidney beans or not. In this test, a solution containing allergen is applied to the skin. Then the applied area of the skin is pricked with a lancet needle.
What are kidney beans?
Kidney beans are a good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber and prevent blood sugar levels from rapidly increasing after food consumption. When these beans are combined with rice, it provides high-quality fat-free proteins. Kidney beans decrease the risk of developing heart disease by supplying magnesium and folate.
These beans should be pre-soaked and heated for 10 minutes before eating because they contain high amounts of phytohemagglutinin. So these beans are more toxic than most of the other beans and may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, disorientation in some of the individuals.

This test is performed to check whether an individual is allergic to red kidney beans or not. This test can also be done along with other food allergy tests to confirm the diagnosis.
Precautions:
Some medications such as antihistamines may change the test results and hence you are advised to inform all your current medications to the doctor prior to the test.
Test Preparation
