What is this test?

Phthalic anhydride is the anhydride of phthalic acid. It dissolves in alcohol and some other organic solvents. Phthalic anhydride is obtained either by catalytic oxidation of ortho -xylene with O2 (oxygen) or by catalytic oxidation of naphthalene. The biproducts of the napthalene reaction are carbon dioxide and water. It is hydrolyzed by hot water, forming ortho -phthalic acid. Phthalic anhydride is widely used in industry in the production of dyes (rhodamine, anthraquinone derivatives), insecticides, plasticizers, in pharmacy, in analytic chemistry, etc. A chemical, which may result in allergy symptoms in sensitised individuals. Acid anhydrides are a group of highly reactive chemicals used widely in the formulation of paints and plastics. These chemicals are used in the synthesis of plasticisers and for producing epoxy and alkyd resins as well as a variety of other products including dyes, insecticides, polyester resins and pharmaceuticals. In turn, epoxy and alkyd resins are used as constituents of paints, varnishes, surface coatings, adhesives, encapsulated materials and sealants). Phthalic anhydride (PA) is a compound with a wide variety of industrial uses. Acid anhydrides are strong respiratory irritants known to produce hypersensitivity pulmonary disease, often beginning as hypersensitivity pneumonitis, which can be known as Epoxy Resin Lung. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis can be precipitated either by acute or chronic exposure to acid anhydrides. Acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis may be characterised by fever, chills, nonproductive cough, chest pains, and dyspnoea. Symptoms associated with chronic hypersensitivity include fever, cough, fatigue, weight loss, and shortness of breath. Acid anhydrides are a group of highly reactive chemicals used widely in the formulation of paints and plastics. These chemicals are used in the synthesis of plasticizers and for producing epoxy and alkyd resins as well as a variety of other products including dyes, insecticides, polyester resins and pharmaceuticals. Phthalic anhydride (PA) is a compound with a wide variety of industrial uses. Traditional allergy tests utilize the Skin Prick method (also known as a Puncture or Scratch test) to determine whether an allergic reaction will occur by inserting possible triggers into your skin using a needle prick. If you are allergic to the substance, you are forced to suffer through your body's reaction to the allergen.
