What is this test?

Probably native of the tropics, Sweet Peppers are grown mainly in China; the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Hawaii, Iraq, Japan, Malaya, Mexico, Spain, Hungary and Turkey. Most commercial Paprika comes from Spain, South America, California and Hungary, with the Hungarian variety considered by many to be superior. It is used as a spice in many cuisines worldwide. C. annuum (Sweet Pepper), as opposed to C. frutescens (Chili or Cayenne Pepper), is used mainly as a vegetable. Sweet Pepper or spices made from Sweet Pepper may induce symptoms of food allergy, rhinitis and contact dermatitis in sensitised individuals . Urticaria as a result of contact with Paprika has been documented. Paprika is a spice made from the grinding of dried fruits of Capsicum annuum (e.g., bell peppers or chili peppers). In many European languages, the word paprika also refers to bell peppers themselves. The seasoning is used in many cuisines to add color and flavor to dishes. Paprika can range from sweet (mild, not hot) to spicy (hot). Flavors also vary from country to country. Paprika allergy symptoms are frequently mild but severe paprika allergies can result in anaphylaxis, so it is important to get tested if you typically have food allergies. Many spice blends contain paprika so always check the ingredient labels of red spice blends. Certain recipes also use paprika to give food a vibrant red color, so check the ingredient list on red food dishes. Common paprika allergy symptoms include: wheezing, dizziness, swelling of the throat, and hives. Traditional allergy tests utilize the Skin Prick method (also known as a Puncture or Scratch test) to determine whether an allergic reaction will occur by inserting possible triggers into your skin using a needle prick. If you are allergic to the substance, you are forced to suffer through your body's reaction to the allergen.
