What is this test?
This test is used to test the individual for any allergy towards lemon. This test helps in knowing whether an individual is allergic to lemon or products which may contain lemon. A small sample of blood is taken to test for an allergic reaction. Your doctor may suggest this test if he/she suspects that the cause of your allergic reaction may be due to lemon or products containing lemon.
What is a lemon allergy?
Lemons are the fruits belonging to the citrus family. Other fruits of the “Citrus” genus include lime, grapefruit, and orange. Consuming lemons or skin exposure to lemons or products which contain lemon extracts may produce an allergic reaction. These allergic reactions may be immediate or take some time to manifest.

Why this test is recommended?
This test may be recommended to you if you experience symptoms like severe itching, rashes, inflammation of the skin, runny or stuffy nose, difficulty in breathing, wheezing, mild fever, gastrointestinal upset like nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, etc immediately or later after consuming or using lemon or products which contain lemon. If you experience symptoms of lemon allergy then there is a chance that you might be allergic to lime, oranges or grapefruit as well. This may also be recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment if you are diagnosed already.
