This test helps to find whether an individual is allergic to dates or not. In this test, a solution containing allergen dates is applied to the skin. Then the applied area of the skin is pricked with a lancet needle.

What is Dates allergy?

Dates allergy is a type of allergy in which an individual is allergic to dates and may suffer from symptoms such as tingling in the mouth, headache, low blood pressure, sleep disturbances, red and itchy eyes, watery eyes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the throat, sneezing, skin rashes, hoarseness, runny nose, etc.

Mostly, dates allergy is of three 3 types and they are date fruit mold allergy, date fruit sulfite allergy, and date fruit pollen allergy. In severe allergic condition, an individual may suffer from life-threatening anaphylactic shock.

The immune system in the individuals who are allergic to dates will produce antibodies against the allergens that are present in the dates and they are mold and sulfites. These are responsible for allergic reactions.

Foods to be avoided: Individuals who are allergic to dates should avoid some alternatives to dates products and they are figs, prunes, raisins, lion dates, some raw fruits, food items containing dried date fruit sulfite and mold, etc.
