What is this test?
This test is used to detect the presence of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against coffee in the blood. This test helps to know the immune response of the body towards coffee.
What is a coffee allergy?
Coffee allergy is a type of allergy in which an individual is allergic to coffee and may suffer from symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, stomach upset, sleep disturbances, headaches, angry, bad mood, dizziness, chest pain, depression, muscle pain, difficulty in breathing, swollen eyes, cold sweating, skin rashes, mouth ulcers, etc.
In severe allergic condition, an individual may suffer from life-threatening anaphylactic shock.
The immune system in the individuals who are allergic to coffee will produce antibodies against the allergens that are present in the coffee and they are caffeine, acetic, citric, formic, lactic, theophylline, glucose, fructose, niacin, etc.
