What is antibacterial gradient?

The antibacterial gradient is a type of laboratory procedure useful for identifying the average minimum and maximum effective dosage required for the treatment of the bacterial infection. A gradient strip with predetermined concentrations of antibiotic is kept in agar plate (nutrient medium) containing a bacterial culture and is allowed to grow and the results are interpreted based on the area of the bacterial growth. The test results are useful for recommending an effective dose or effective medicine combination for the treatment.

What is Streptomycin?

Streptomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is used as the primary treatment of tuberculosis, a disease which mainly affects the respiratory system, and for certain other infectious diseases which affect the brain, the respiratory system, and the inner tissues of the heart, especially the valves.

Why this test is recommended?
