Dr. Nitin Tiwari is a 1992 batch Gold Medalist graduate from G.M.C, Nagpur. He did his MD and DNB Medicine from G. B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi., then went on to do an OM Cardiology from Sion Hospital, Mumbai and DNB Cardiology from the esteemed CMC, Vellore. Later he did his Fellowship in lnterventional Cardiology from the prestigious Nantes University Hospital, France. While visiting G R Laennec Hospital, France, he worked with stalwarts like Prof. Crochet and Dr. A. Tirouvanzium and mastered the techniques of complex angioplasties, IVUS, rotablation etc. He did his Endovascular fellowship from Klinikum Oldenburg, Germany under the able guidance of Dr. Ajay Chavan, the inventor of ‘Chavan Haverich Graft’. After working with Prof. Elsasser, Dr. Nitin Tiwari became the first cardiologist from Central India to be formally trained in TAVI (Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Implantation). He worked with Dr. Nakamura in Kyoto, Japan, where he mastered the techniques of opening 100% blockages. Dr. Tiwari has done more than 4000 complex interventions and has many grateful patients to his credit. Dear Dr. Nitin Tiwari,
This is a small story I wanted to share with you — a story that means a lot to me and my family.
Back in 2024, my father suddenly began experiencing severe acidity and chest pain. I immediately took him to Sparsh Hospital near our home. There, the doctors gave him some antacids and tablets, which provided temporary relief. However, by evening, the chest pain returned. I rushed him back to the same hospital, where Dr. Swarup Verma attended to him.
Dr. Verma did an ECG and quickly identified the need for an angioplasty within the next hour. He immediately gave my father six important tablets and called you to explain the situation. Even though you had already finished your day and gone home, you didn’t hesitate — you asked your team to prepare the emergency department at Wockhardt Hospital, and you personally rushed back.
When we arrived at Wockhardt, you met us right away. You spoke with my father, calmed him down, motivated him, and clearly explained everything that was going to happen. You gave us the confidence we needed at that critical time. Within minutes, you took my father into the OT. Just ten minutes later, you called us in to show us the blockage. Thankfully, there was only one. You reassured us again and went back in to perform the angioplasty.
After the procedure, you once again explained everything in detail and asked your team to shift my father to the ICU for 24-hour monitoring. The next morning, you came for a follow-up, and then he was moved to a regular room. After another day's stay, he was discharged in the evening. Ten days later, we visited you again for a follow-up, and everything was perfectly fine. Since then, we have been regularly visiting every four months for follow-up checks, and by God’s grace, everything is normal now.
What stood out the most throughout this entire experience was you. The way you handled everything, the way you interacted with my father — it never felt like we were dealing with a doctor, but rather with a close family member. Your humor, your calmness, and your genuine care made it all feel so much lighter. Sitting in your cabin never felt like something serious had ever happened — that's the kind of comfort you bring to your patients.
