Description
Thiomid-E Tablet is an antimycobacterial medicine used to treat tuberculosis. It is generally used in patients who have acquired resistance to other anti-tubercular medicines. It is usually taken in a combination with other medicines to treat all types of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

General warnings

Liver Diseases

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from mild to moderate liver diseases or patients at risk of liver diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver diseases.

Driving or Operating machinery

This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Drug resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a mycobacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established. However, if the child is resistant to primary therapy and is suffering from life-threatening complications, your doctor may prescribe this medicine. Close monitoring of the clinical condition is advised in such cases.

Liver enzyme levels

This medicine may elevate liver enzyme levels in some patients. Close monitoring of liver enzyme levels, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Diabetes Mellitus
