Description
Supracif 250 MG Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that contains ciprofloxacin. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections that affect your skin, joints, lungs, or urinary tract. It is effective against a large number of bacteria. It kills or prevents the growth of bacteria that causes infection. It should be used to treat bacterial infections only. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Supracif 250 MG Tablet shows common side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Supracif 250 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage, usually in your ankle. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment to prevent bacterial resistance. Supracif 250 MG Tablet can be taken with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take Supracif 250 MG Tablet around the same time every day. Take Supracif 250 MG Tablet one-two hours before or after taking antacids as they increase the time taken by this medicine to show its effect. Take Supracif 250 MG Tablet two hours before/after taking dairy products as they can affect its absorption and decrease its beneficial effects. Supracif 250 MG Tablet should be avoided during pregnancy due to the risk of adverse effects on developing joints of the foetus. Supracif 250 MG Tablet is not known to be harmful but it can pass into breast milk in small amounts, so if you are breastfeeding it is advised to consult your doctor before using it. Avoid Supracif 250 MG Tablet if you have kidney disease or tendon issues as it can worsen your condition.

Allergy

Avoid taking Supracif 250 MG Tablet if you are previously allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions to this medicine are rare. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms like skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.

Tendonitis or tendon rupture

Supracif 250 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use Supracif 250 MG Tablet if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone).

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control, including the arms and legs. Supracif 250 MG Tablet should be avoided if you have such a problem because it may worsen your condition.

Pregnancy

Supracif 250 MG Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy due to the risk of adverse effects on developing joints of your foetus. Take Supracif 250 MG Tablet only upon your doctor's recommendation.

General warnings

Muscle damage

Supracif 250 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankles. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Supracif 250 MG Tablet, even if the condition gets better, to avoid antibiotic resistance (a condition where the bacteria become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Supracif 250 MG Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Consult your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Supracif 250 MG Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or disorientation. Hence, do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms.

Kidney diseases

Use Supracif 250 MG Tablet with extreme caution if you have kidney problems due to the risk of kidney damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine based on your condition.

Other medicines

Inform the doctor about the use of all your other medications before starting treatment with Supracif 250 MG Tablet. Avoid using Tizanidine (a muscle relaxant medicine) and caffeine-containing products while taking Supracif 250 MG Tablet as they may interact with this medicine.

Antacids

If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can increase the time it takes for Supracif 250 MG Tablet to show its effects. It is recommended to take this antibiotic at least one hour before or two hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Supracif 250 MG Tablet. And if a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Supracif 250 MG Tablet.

Use Supracif 250 MG Tablet with caution if you have conditions like seizures, depression, or psychotic conditions. Supracif 250 MG Tablet can trigger or worsen these conditions.

Gastrointestinal Diseases

Use Supracif 250 MG Tablet with extreme caution if you have gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen your condition.

QT Prolongation

Supracif 250 MG Tablet may cause heart rhythm problems called prolonged QT intervals (an electrical heartbeat disturbance) if you are taking medications for heart conditions. It may result in fast, rapid, and irregular heartbeats.
Food interactions
Taking caffeine along with Supracif 250 MG Tablet can increase sleeplessness, nervousness, and anxiety. Avoid coffee or medicines containing caffeine while taking Supracif 250 MG Tablet.
Supracif 250 MG Tablet will not show its desired effects if you take it with dairy products (milk and milk products). Maintain a gap of at least two hours between Supracif 250 MG Tablet and dairy products.
Avoid using Supracif 250 MG Tablet along with multivitamins with minerals. If needed it is suggested to take this medicine before four hours or after six hours of taking multivitamins with minerals.

Supracif 250 MG Tablet uses is proven to be highly effective in treating bacterial infections. Take Supracif 250 MG Tablet with or without food as instructed by your doctor. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Take this Supracif 250 MG Tablet at around the same time daily. Do not chew or crush the tablet in your mouth. Do not give your medicine to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.
