Description

Rospitril 1 MG Tablet is an antipsychotic medicine that is used in the treatment of Schizophrenia and other mood disorders. This medicine is not recommended for use in pediatrics less than 5 years of age. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without informing the doctor as it may cause withdrawal symptoms.

General warnings

Dementia- related psychosis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with dementia-related psychosis due to the increased risk of death.

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

Use of this medicine may increase the risk of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome in some patients which are characterized by an increase in body temperature, muscle rigidity, altered consciousness. Patients are advised to discontinue the treatment with this medicine in such cases. An alternative treatment option should be considered based on clinical conditions.

Tardive dyskinesia

This medicine may cause involuntary movements of tongue, lips, and face. Report to your doctor if you have these symptoms. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Diabetes and Dyslipidemia

This medicine may increase the blood glucose levels and lipids levels in the body. Assess these parameters before initiation of the treatment and regular monitoring of blood glucose and body weight is necessary.

Seizures

This medicine should be used with caution in the patients with a history of seizures or with conditions that lower the seizure threshold

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in children with schizophrenia who are less than 13 years of age and bipolar disorder who are less than 10 years of age due to the lack of safety and effectiveness.

Elderly population

This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly population due to the increased risk of orthostatic hypotension and kidney injury.

Driving or Operating machinery

This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
