Risperdal Consta 25 MG Injection is an antipsychotic medicine that is used in the treatment of schizophrenia and other mood disorders. This medicine is not recommended for use in pediatrics less than 18 years of age.

Dementia- related psychosis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with dementia-related psychosis due to the increased risk of death.

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

Use of this medicine may increase the risk of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome in some patients which are characterized by an increase in body temperature, muscle rigidity, altered consciousness. Patients are advised to discontinue the treatment with this medicine in such cases. An alternative treatment option should be considered based on clinical conditions.

Tardive dyskinesia

This medicine may cause involuntary movements of tongue, lips, and face. Report to your doctor if you have these symptoms. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Diabetes and Dyslipidemia

This medicine may increase the blood glucose levels and lipids levels in the body. Assess these parameters before initiation of the treatment and regular monitoring of blood glucose and body weight is necessary.

Seizures

This medicine should be used with caution in the patients with a history of seizures or with conditions that lower the seizure threshold

Use in chidren

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Elderly population
